My Students

I teach three rotations of third grade students, with twenty-three students being the largest class. Through morning meeting discussions, I understand that majority of my students have a desire to attend college after high school. All of my students have a strong desire to positively impact society in some fashion, such as trade jobs and musical opportunities. My students love to work in collaborative groups as we explore subjects. Despite environmental disadvantages, this group of students continues to show a strong sense of determination to learn! Their growth mindsets push me daily to continue to develop through implementing new learning structures and innovative items and ideas for our classroom family!

My Project

As third grade students prepare year long to take the state reading exam, reading can become more of a task rather than an enjoyable encounter. I would love to provide my students with a relaxed reading corner, an escape area to get comfortable while reading an engaging book. My goal is to see my students find a love and desire for reading. Using flexible seating will start in our reading corner. After front-loading a specific TEKS on Mondays, I will have skills based learning center that students rotate to set up in different areas of the classroom. All students will have the opportunity to enjoy the flexible seating as they rotate through centers in twenty minute time increments.
