My students are warriors. They have been through the struggle of unstable living situations while struggling to graduate on time. Being that we are continuation high school we see children who are behind on credits and are in catch mode and feeling the pressures of coming young adult life. They all want to be successful but many of them struggle from various forms trauma. So we create a family environment for them full of caring adults who teach them with pride. These students are like my children. My aim is to inspire them to become creative, entrepreneurial, and to make a difference in there in the world.
My Project
At DA in Oakland, Ca we are a Health and Fitness Pathway for our teens. My class focus is Physical Fitness, Nutrition, and Wellness as a practice. Being a Certified Personal Trainer and a High School Teacher my specific pathway is The Personal Training field. Tools like the VitaMix blender will help my students learn the art of vegan raw foods blending and while eventually lead to creating a school wide smoothie Bar. The TRX Suspension training equipment will help my students create strength training regiments for various fitness goals. Both of these tools will help my students increase there chances of becoming professionals in the health and fitness industry and living a life of wellness through practice.
