My Students
I teach Vocal Music to a diverse group of music students at a public Title I visual and performing arts high school in downtown Los Angeles. Students come from all over the city to receive a top-notch education in both academics and their chosen art form (music, dance, visual or theater). Many of them go on to study at some of the top academic colleges and art schools across the country.
Students build their creativity, self-expression, and confidence through music literacy, solo singing, vocal improvisation, and high-level ensemble singing.
My Project
My students in two vocal jazz ensembles plan to attend the 20th annual Cuesta College Vocal Jazz Festival. At this event, they will perform on stage at Cuesta College, after which they will work with a clinician who will give them feedback on their performance. They will also listen to and observe performances by other schools and attend a master class with the professional vocal group, Groove For Thought.
This festival has been one of the most inspiring events I've taken students to over the years.
The musicians who work with students at this festival share their creativity and passion for music in a way that always encourages and educates the students. Your donations will send these students to a festival which is sure to be a highlight of their year and an event that will encourage them to grow even more to become the best musicians they can be. Thank you!
