it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I recently returned to teaching second grade in an urban school.
Despite many challenges, my students come school each day eager to learn how to learn and drive their own learning.
My students love school because they experience thrilling and motivating educational experiences that simultaneously improve their math, writing, reading, science, and social studies skills.
This often takes monetary funding I am not given by my state or school district. Unforgettable learning experiences in second grade help my students retain learning in their long-term memories.
My Project
After teaching second grade for seven years, then fourth grade for five years, my classroom library has a wide range of reading levels. However, I have learned that I seem to have donated the majority of my easiest-level books along the way. My second graders are struggling to find good-fit books in my classroom library.
I have many beginning readers in my class after a year and a half of remote learning since their kindergarten year.
The confidence the ability to read a book brings is palpable. I'd love to fill my library with books the second graders can all access.
