My students need the chromebooks so that each student can have access to THEIR OWN computer to use in class for the whole year! We can go completely paperless in the coming years!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a fourth grade STEM magnet class in the Los Angeles School District. My students are predominantly of Latino decent. I have a diverse and intelligent bunch of students, many of whom are identified as gifted students. In any given day you will see my students engaged in cooperative learning groups and engaged in discussion. My students use technology as a tool for displaying their thinking and they use technology daily in class. My class is extremely dedicated and attentive. Lifelong learning is one of the core principals I teach to my class, and we are constantly using technology to showcase our learning.
My students work hard and impress any visitors who come into our class!
Our classroom is colorful and bright and we love showcasing work throughout the walls and on-going working portfolios. Most importantly my students impress any visitors with their able to discuss their ideas using academic vocabulary.
My Project
In order to get my students ready for 21st Century learning, they have to be digital citizens. I have 25 students in my classroom, and we currently have 6 Chromebooks in my classroom and 4 working computers. By funding this project you will enable each student access to their own computer to be used for the year in my classroom. My goal is to eventually go paperless and teach my students and assign work completely on the computer using PDF's and Google Apps for education. I can also continue to go further in depth with computer science, coding through Google CS First and Hour of Code!
I want to empower my students and make technology available to them to use their higher level thinking skills to use technology to CREATE and DISPLAY their learning!
