Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have 20 dual language 3rd grade students that are eager and excited to start the new school year. They have shown a great interest in our classroom library. As one of the main pillars of a dual language program, we strive in guiding our scholars in becoming culturally relevant, bilingual and biliterate students.

Help me provide a classroom library with multi-cultural books in which students can see themselves represented so that they continue to grow their love for reading.

The power of representation is so important and vital in building love for literacy. Students enjoy being able to relate to the characters, recognize the setting and understand plots. With these books they will also enjoy learning about new cultures they have not been exposed to or familiar with. By adding these books to our classroom library, students will enjoy the wonderful illustrations and words that are familiar to them.
