This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What are your fondest memories from being young? Think back to all the time you spent playing with your friends or even alone. My classroom is full of energetic 5 and 6 year old students who are eager to learn and play. They are full of imagination and curiosity.

In this class, it's important that we meet our academic goals as well as our social milestones.

Learning to share, take turns, respect others ideas, and say please and thank you are a must!

My Project

This year, I'm hoping to introduce the magic of puppets into my classroom. When I first started teaching kindergarten my classroom had a puppet theater but no puppets. Needless to say, the theater ended up in storage. Last year, we had a guest teacher who used a puppet to explain the importance of eating a balanced diet. As soon she brought out "Mr. My Plate" my students were hooked. Every time she returned to the classroom they wanted to talk to "Mr. My Plate."

Imagine how enthusiastic my students will be when they begin to use our Alphabet Puppet Set and the Let's Talk, Kids Puppets!

Their oral language will blossom as they begin acting out stories they have heard in the classroom and even begin to create their own characters.

What I am most excited for is that puppets can help us navigate social emotional skills. Student can learn appropriate behaviors from puppets, act out social stories, and practice identifying different emotions. My students will benefit from bringing puppets into the classroom.
