The students in my urban special education social studies classroom are a group of energetic young learners. These 7th and 8th graders are eager to engage in unique and differentiated lessons and activities. To help keep them motivated and best meet their needs, I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, one on one and small group work, and project based learning options.
They are truly a fun, enthusiastic, and authentic group!
I am so lucky and thankful to have a group of learners that are excited and ready to learn!
My Project
In order to best meet the needs of my diverse learners, the lessons and activities have to be individual to each student. This requires LOTS of differentiated materials which include leveled reading passages, graphic organizers, and visual aids. While some students can access these materials digitally, many of my learners require a printed hard copy to best suit their learning style.
