Our school serves approximately 700 students in Pre-k through fifth grade. These students come to school on a daily basis eager and excited to learn, explore and question the world around them.
We help our students acquire real life as well as academic skills and promote student responsibility and accountability.
Students are given numerous opportunities to synergize with their peers, explore with technology, problem solve and use their newfound knowledge to create projects and share within the campus and community.
My Project
Picture books are found in an abundance in primary grades; however, the older children get, the less they are exposed to picture books. Picture books are a powerful tool to teach not only reading strategies, enhance vocabulary and model fluent reading but they teach character education and give students characters to relate to. They can be integrated across the curriculum into every possible subject to activate their thinking and prior knowledge, and engage students with topics that they never wold have chosen on their own. Most importantly, they promote a love of reading and allow children to continue grow in their educational career.
