This project would support my student in two ways: reading about the art making process and creating art with appropriate tools. First, the book ask. I've long wanted to incorporate an "Art Book Club" into my classes and recently found that Neil Gaiman's book "Art Matters" would be an accessible title to begin my students thinking into what art means to them personally. Second, the bone folder tool ask. I believe that having access to quality materials elevates the quality of work that students are able to create: a pen that won't bleed through the paper, a set of graphite pencils that allow them to explore a range of values, origami paper that folds cleaning and crisply.
"Art Matters" would give students an opportunity to consider how art can create meaning in their lives now and in the future and the bone folders would allow students the ability to use the proper tools to master a task and create great art.
