Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing, dedicated and flexible learners! They are readying themselves for a future in an ever-changing world by learning in two languages! These kids are dedicated and inquisitive, but just lack access to authentic interactions with technology.

We are part of a Title 1 Dual-Immersion Elementary.

Students study mathematics and Spanish language arts while listening, speaking and writing in Spanish. They also study science, English language arts, and social studies while listening, speaking and writing in English. In order to achieve in two languages, we have to be incredibly efficient and dedicated!

My Project

My students are amazing workers!! They work hard, reading passages and writing on paper but, they need more opportunities to make use of the power of computer! Often times students get very limited time on computers, and with that time they are merely completing mandatory math and phonics programs. We do not have enough computers to allow students to consistently use the computer for authentic research and writing purposes. Our computer cart is limited to about 24 old laptops to serve over 100 students. Also, being a Title I school, most of my students do not get time on computers at home!
