This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are inquisitive, energetic and passionate. They are currently working on becoming better and faster readers. Our classroom library has been a wonderful asset in this endeavor. My students love our Reading Fridays time. This sacred time has not only helped my students foster their literacy but their love of reading as well.

Cicero said, "A room without books is like a body without a soul." The soul of our classroom is rich and wondrous just like my students.

My Project

In my English class, we have a very extensive library. Every Friday, we have reading Friday to practice our reading skills and find books that we all can enjoy. Students even become so invested that they take these books home to continue their reading. This library has helped develop my students' love for reading.

We have all types of books for every kind of reader, but many of my students like to read mangas and comics.

Last year, we started with a small collection but would love to expand this section in the library. Comic books and mangas not only provide an interesting story, but the visual medium these stories are told in, is beneficial in aiding some of my students who lack the confidence or struggle to read long texts.
