Help me give my students the ability to take charge of their own learning, whether this be a choice of where they are sitting, the type of writing materials they are using, or the books they are reading.
Family is the word that comes to mind when I think of our school. Our "family" is made up of a diverse group of students, including military families, ethnicities, and different socioeconomic levels. Within our fourth grade family, our students are constantly exploring, learning and growing through a multitude of styles and strategies. It is my duty to help them reach their full potential as learners. My students are able to accomplish just that through hands on activities, stimulation, and cooperative learning.
My Project
By funding this project, fourth graders will be given the ability of choice. For example, flexible seating has become widely popular and by giving them choice of wobble disks or stools, it will allow them to have choices.
The power of choice goes hand and hand with all materials listed in this wishlist.
For example, giving my students choice of books by using different types of text such as magazines and meaningful picture books.
It is important to me and my students that they are in charge of their own learning. By funding this project, we will be another step closer to putting that plan in action.
