In my ENL classes, every student is special and unique. I currently teach English to English Language Learners in grades 4, 5, and 6. I've taken joy in being a part of a special school community where students, families, and teachers all work together to give our students a strong social, emotional and academic foundation. We all have the same goal in mind: to cultivate a nurturing environment in which we are committed to challenging each student to meet his/her optimal potential academically, socially, and emotionally by respecting, appreciating and challenging students in a caring community, while building a sense of responsibility and respect.
My Project
I am asking for power pens and kits to go along with them. This way my students can work independently in centers and hear whether or not their answers are correct. The power pen kits will help my students learn the English Language while learning other skills in language arts and math that are required in school. These kits will give my students a stress-free work station, where they can feel comfortable if they do not get something correct and will build their confidence by reinforcing basic skills in English. Many of my students are embarrassed that they can not speak English properly and become very shy when they have to answer questions. I want them to learn while building their confidence with basic skills in English.
