Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first grade students are eager to learn and excited about their learning experiences. Many of them are learning English as their second language. Some of them receive a food backpack on Fridays to ensure they have their nutritional needs met during the weekends.

The gardening supplies I'm requesting will give my students opportunities to grow and watch plants as they grow.

The Tickle Me Plant kit will allow each student an opportunity to plant a seed, care for it, study its growth and finally take it home to share with their family.

I'm requesting healthy potting soil and grow pods so that my first grade students and after school Bug Club members can plant our Milkweed seeds and transplant them into our school garden in the spring. We want to do our part in providing Milkweed to support Monarch butterflies migration patterns!

Reading and math are VERY important skills to ensure lifelong success. Because of the strong focus in reading and math, science can sometimes fall in the cracks. Oftentimes, students from low income families lack gardening experiences that their wealthier counterparts are privy to. I want to make sure that my students are getting a well-rounded education that includes experiences that all students should be able to enjoy.
