Every morning, my students enter the classroom then they start reading their independent reading novel/book for 10 mins. This practice sets the tone for the rest of the day. The tone is " starting the day with something you like to do". Read!
My students are truly an amazing group of individuals!
I am really lucky to have the opportunity to be able to work with these 5th graders, this year. If I had to choose one thing I admire most about my students, it would be their love of reading. They are the most curious and exploratory young people. It keeps me wanting to provide the most authentic learning experiences I can provide, as their teacher.
I would like to give credit to my parents and school for cultivating learners that are intrinsically motivated to learn.
My Project
The students will be using these novels (The Outsiders) as a novel study. The novel study would include literature circles, in which students have discussions about the book in small learning groups. Students will explore literary components of the novel, as well as compare & contrast the book to the movie.
The donations for this project will improve my classroom by providing each student with the necessary materials for learning.
Having a novel based curriculum,(instead of a basal read curriculum) proves for deeper and meaningful learning process.
This book is an all time favorite of many students who have read the book. This book illustrates the adversities of coming of age young people. Students can relate to this and see themselves in the book. The benefit is learning with great resources.
