Help me give my students safe outdoor learning opportunities. This outdoor learning laboratory will challenge scholars to engage in nature-based inquiries while safely distancing.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a passionate Kindergarten educator in a public urban inner-city district. My students are intellectuals, authors, poets, dreamers, scientists, mathematicians, musicians, and artists. In order to help them reach their full potential in our classroom, we need the tools to expand their experiences and maintain engagement. This is where you come in.
Many of our scholars face socioeconomic challenges in Cleveland.
As a Latina who grew up in the Cleveland area, I have a good understanding of how these challenges can impact one's success and academic experience. This understanding is what fuels me every single day. In a world where many obstacles exist, join me in the battle to make education a shining beam of opportunity and equality.
My Project
The Covid-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented challenge for educators and students. Research has supported that the safest way to engage with others during this time is by doing so outdoors. Therefore, I would like to create an outdoor learning space.
Our outdoor learning laboratory will allow for our class to safely engage in complex nature-based investigations.
The tarps will be used to create a "picnic theme" where scholars will sit at opposite ends and collaborate on inquiry-based activities. The storage bins will be used as desks and storage space for the tarps and outdoor learning materials. The colorful sack backpacks will be provided to ensure that each scholar has their own individualized materials. Finally, the mesh pencil pouches will allow for me to effectively sanitize individualized materials. I hope to be able to get this project funded by the beginning of the school year which is September 8th. If you are able to help with any donation, I would be tremendously grateful.
