This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting some items for my classroom to help us move smoothly throughout the day. My small reading groups engage in an activity called "Making Big Words" where they build words, write them on a sentence strip and put them in a pocket chart. At the end of building all the words, students search for patterns and reorganize the words in to families. This is very difficult to do without a great pocket chart that can display and hold all of the words. We have been sitting on the floor and trying to organize them, but it is very ineffective and messy. I also often have students present projects done on their Chromebooks for their classmates, and there is no good place for them to place their laptops while presenting. For this, we really need a lectern. Lastly, students use a mouse while working on their computers, but our "mice" get tangled and disorganized, and it takes longer for them to pick up their supplies. A pocket chart to keep them apart would be a great help.
