This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students and I will begin this school year with a distance/remote learning model. Since my students will be learning from home, they will be presented with a variety of challenges; such as added distractions & lack of supplies. I will not be able to see my students in person and this connection is one of the most important tools I have to help them succeed. Although this is a challenging and not an ideal situation our health and safety are the utmost priority.

It is my goal to make the best out of this less than ideal situation and do everything in my power to create a learning environment for my students that is positive, engaging, and effective.

I am provided with a laptop to conduct distance learning on, however, as I learned from our digital learning experience in March-May, our students need vivid visuals, organization tools, and effective sound to help them succeed.

This project will provide my students with the proper tools to help them be successful during this terrible pandemic.

My Project

The items in this distance learning project will enable me to give my students an organized, engaging, interactive, and effective digital learning environment. Children are natural scholars, explorers, inventors, and artists who have a natural love for learning. To have a part in helping my students learn about the world we live in is a gift. This does not need to stop due to this terrible pandemic.

With the proper tools, I can still foster a love for learning in my students in spite of the less than ideal situation we find ourselves in due to Covid-19.

Proper technology such as lighting, sound, and a web camera will enable students to see the books I read during a read aloud, see the formation of my mouth when teaching phonics, view manipulatives during math instruction, etc. Tools such as binders and dividers will help them stay organized and focused even though their home environment might provide distractions. My goal is to help students feel as little of the effects of this pandemic as possible through providing quality digital instruction.
