Don't let any of my students be the, "One that got away". Having to read a math word problem or even the school menu, can seem like climbing Mt. Everest, for a student who can't read.
The way reading is taught and presented in our classrooms is a huge success for so many of our students, but for a small minority it doesn't give them the skills they need to be good readers.
These are the students that I teach. Some of these students are in the third and fourth grade and are still unable to read. I want to "catch them" and help them feel success instead of humiliation. I want to teach them to read. This is a research based program that will help me give them the tools and skills they need to succeed.
My Project
The Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing program helps children develop the sensory-cognitive function of phonemic awareness. It uses movement to help them verify the identity and sequence of sounds within words, and to become self-correcting in reading, spelling, and speech. It is common for children to gain years in just weeks of intensive instruction.
What kind of future lies ahead for these students if no one steps up and offers them a chance at a new tomorrow?
Can you imagine a world without the power to read? Help me give these students the gift of reading. This gift will change their lives!
