This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As we near the end of the school year, my fourth-grade students are ready to embark on an exciting literary journey. The exciting novel 'The One and Only Ivan' by Katherine Applegate is a perfect book to use as an in-class novel study. With an engaging plot and themes of friendship, this novel is sure to bring joy to my group of students.

My students come from a low socio-economic background, where all of our students at our school are on free and reduced-price lunches.

But do not worry, this doesn't hold them back! In a technology-driven district, my students are thriving.

These supplies will help increase my students' literacy skills and their love for reading. With an engaging story and being able to read the same novel as all of their peers, students will be excited to start each day with a few chapters from 'The One and Only Ivan'.
