The Novel Study, 1984!

My Project

I teach 1984 by George Orwell to my students in the Spring before they graduate high school. George Orwell's book, 1984, changed the way I saw the world. The discussions we have every week challenge my students to reevaluate their understanding of life: right and wrong, justice and mercy, and what it means to be human.

The lessons and warnings they encounter while reading and discussing 1984 will stay with them throughout the rest of their lives, totalitarian regimes, humanity's inhumanity to man, the role of government in the lives of citizens, and the need to balance freedom and responsibility.

A class set of 1984 will ensure that every child that comes through my classroom has access to this important text.
