Help me give my students headphones with a microphone to use with their Chromebooks, to help them focus on listening to stories, without distractions from our busy classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to school everyday with an enthusiastic attitude about learning. I encourage my students to explore and ask questions about the world around them. The diverse personalities and cultures in my room add to the learning of our community.
My class consists of five and six year old students, most of whom are language learners.
Our school is a Title I school, where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Although some of my students may face challenges at home, they work together in our room to create a fun and collaborative learning environment. Working with my students is such a joy, which makes coming to school something I look forward to everyday.
My Project
My students use their computers on a daily basis for reading and math. They have access to various online learning programs such as ST Math, Raz Kids, Scholastic and Benchmark Advance to help them improve their reading skills. Some websites have sounds to help students learn the sounds they need for reading, and the headphones will be used to reduce the classroom noise when students are working independently.
By donating to this project, you will help my students focus on thinking about their own reading and math skills rather than getting distracted by neighbors.
Students will be also able to practice fluency by recording themselves reading. Then I will be able to listen to the recordings and analyze how they read independently. This will help me plan individual next steps to help students improve their reading.
