Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students will be working on a variety of printmaking projects to explore the process, and expand their use of different materials, tools, and techniques. Most of the students in our school come from underserved communities and do not have access to materials to support their artistic pursuits.
Every grade level will master the use of the Etching Press and utilize techniques learned by famous artists(Durer, Rembrandt, Catlett, Martin, Hogu, etc,) to create works that detail their discovery through the medium.
Printmaking is such an engaging medium for young artists that lends itself to an open and creative approach to their artistic process. The act of carving/etching/engraving, troubleshooting and experimenting with the press, and manipulating the medium being printed on is something I could only describe as intimate.
