Help me give my students the ability to interact with learning daily by using a classroom Ipad. From overhead projectors, SMART boards, and all the way to document cameras, this Ipad will act as an interactive lecture tool.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom is equipped with only a classroom projector. Without a functioning SMART board/Clever Touch/document camera, it is difficult to provide the students with examples/notes in real-time. No one (especially not high school students!) wants to sit through a boring lecture without engagement or with pre-saved PPT slides they just copy down. By presenting materials in real-time digitally, students feel involved in the learning process and can build a toolbox of notes to rely on in future lessons. Currently, we are running this system off my old Ipad from college, and the students really respond to it, but the Ipad is on its last leg.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive during mini-lessons when they feel like they working with me as we take notes and learn materials - not just copying down.
As we work through new topics and material, students would be able to come up to the Ipad and work with me & their peers as we learn about new biological concepts. I would also be able to give students constant digital access to my notes through apps like Microsoft OneNote.
The products I have selected will be used and loved by over 170 students across all 6 sections of Biology and will keep learners engaged!
