This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach enthusiastic, hard-working students. They are budding scientists, writers, readers, and mathematicians. They are under-equipped but overachieving.

"My school is a TK-8 school in the heart of East Oakland, opened after a design team of educators, parents, and community members spent a year re-envisioning the school’s mission.

Our current students have significant social and emotional needs, stemming from the indirect and direct trauma they have experienced."

My room is filled with the most enthusiastic students you will ever meet. We do small group instruction to offer a more personalized learning experience for the students.

Our student population is 82% Latino and 15% African American and a growing number of students from Southeast Asian and the Middle East. 98% of our students identify as low income.

My Project

My project would allow my students to have an educational experience safely from their own home that rivals the once in person education they received. Using these tools, I will be able to set up a digital distance whiteboard. This will allow me to draw models of the content, which will further their conceptual understanding of science and math.

Our students ability to master the STEM classroom will erupt upward using these tech tools.

Without these tools, distance learning would be an extreme challenge. As a teacher, I rely heavily on the ability to draw models on the whiteboard to push my students conceptual understanding.
