This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Hello, my name is Reiana Williams but my students call me Ms. Williams. I am a Steam instructional assistant at the Elementary Middle School in Baltimore Maryland. This is my first year in education and I have learned so much about the new generation. I began my journey in education in February 2024 and throughout my experience I have come across amazing kids that just want to know that there is someone that truly cares about them. Working with these children have changed my life for the better and I will forever love them.
Something I have noticed by getting to know the children is that they all mutually feel unheard in numerous ways.
It has been my goal throughout this process to show them ways to express themselves properly without acting out or getting into a physical altercation. I have decided to put my words to action by creating a fundraiser to raise money to purchase journals for the children as a summer gift. The impact behind the journals is to give the children a way to work on expressing themselves on paper. This level of mindfulness will allow them to work on their different levels of emotions properly. Every day I express to the children that I want them to be great and go for their dreams. This gift will be the beginning of their journey to a new outlook on life. I am looking to raise $2,000 to purchase the journals for the children. Each journal is $8 and I teach around 250 students every two weeks. Please help me bless the children at our School with a journal. Thank you for your time and consideration.
