The new generation of good readers and test takers...
My students need technology , Chromebooks, in order to take their diagnostic test . My students need a sharpener for their pencils and resources to read.We also need Time For Kids and Scholastic Classroom Magazines.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This school year I have 20 second grade gifted students. My class is made up of 13 boys and 7 girls. I am currently teaching all areas in a self-contained classroom setting. I have taught in the same school for over ten years and this is the first year I have a self-contained gifted group. With gifted students the curriculum must be accelerated and must have a meaning for students to make gains. I am pleased with the eagerness I see in my students daily. This year we plan to explore the world within our classroom. The plan is to expand the capacity of creativity and critical thinkers with our class.
My students take lots of pride in their work and have demonstrated that they are willing to take on any challenge I present to them in their real world problem solving skills.
The majority of my class is on free and reduced lunch based on their social economic status and although their parents may not be able to take them out of the county on family trips, I plan to enrich them from all the meaningful lesson I plan to teach this year.
My Project
With the use of technology and the kind donation made to my class my student will be able to take their diagnostic test. It is unfortunate we only have one computer lab that we will share with the entire school which makes it difficult when there is over 1043 student in the school and the computers are constantly being repaired, used for planning, without headphones, or simply not working to have the kids finish their i-ready test. My students will be taking their accelerated reading test, their math test, and their reading from a computer this year. It is imperative they become familiar with using keyboards and commands from a laptop.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
