Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic and curious about everything. All of our students live close-by and walk to school each day. A good deal of my students have parents who are immigrants and/or don't speak English. My students need as much support in school as possible in order to help them to reach their potential.
The students in my class are excited to learn new things and love using technology to challenge themselves.
I hope to be able to foster this love of learning and encourage them to keep pushing themselves to reach their goals.
My Project
My students have begin Reader's Workshop this year with a decent number of books at their level. The books that are appropriate, though, are short and not as entertaining as I would like.
If we had a collection of Dr. Seuss type books, they would look forward to reading even more!
These books would not only help to grow my library but it will help my students to grow their love of reading as well.
Dr. Seuss is a great resource to help beginning readers learn to figure out new words, especially because a lot of the words rhyme. I can't wait to see the look on their faces when they see a whole new collection of books that they're excited to read!
