My Students
Class, class, class! YES! YES! YES! The students chant and automatically gather in our community center sitting on the rug in the center of the classroom. This rug is stained, tearing, and can't seem to stay put. This important area is where they meet to share, read, and learn together.
My hardworking fourth graders come from all walks of life.
We have representative from all over the world: China, Mexico, Nepal, Yemen, making more than half of my class English language learners. Reading interventions have been highly emphasize in my school due to the high populations of ELLs. Most walk to school everyday through a high risk urban neighborhood, and receive free or reduce price school lunches. The classroom is a learning haven that fosters their education academically, emotionally, and physically.
My Project
We meet multiple times a day in our classroom's community center. Our class is asking for a new, vibrant, and comfortable rug to complete our learning environment. The nature theme carpet will promote engagement in learning and reading by creating an atmosphere that kids enjoy. The individual leaves on the carpet will help kids with personal space when listening to a lesson, and encourage them to find a new and an exciting area to read in the classroom. With 34 kids, this massive rug will invite all learners to participate. This is an essential part of the classroom where active learning takes place.
With a strengthen positive attitude towards learning, the students' skill level will increase.
The nature of learning is being able to fully engage it ones environment. This donation will help create the ultimate learning experience.
