My students need a variety of reading books that are of interest to them, along with 12 more copies of "Bullying in Schools," arts and crafts supplies, and student timers.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Sticks and stones may break your bones but names will never hurt me," couldn't be further from the truth. Names do hurt, and they have negative, long-lasting effects years after they've been said.
I have such a diverse class of students this year with a handful being special needs (AUT), 1/3 of my class are English Language Learners, and the rest fall everywhere within the academic spectrum, to include some potentially gifted students.
They are all great students and that is why I am asking for the particular resources and materials in this project.
My Project
I would like to be able to provide every student in my class with a copy of Bullying in Schools. We currently have 2 copies, and I've been reading stories about students who have experienced bullying in one form or another to them. They have really gotten into it. We have great class discussions that arise from these readings. With this project and another I just had funded, I'll be able to give each of my students their own copy. My hope is that they'll share these books with friends and family and continue the 'Movement to End Bullying'.
I am also requesting additional books of high interest to build our classroom library. In addition, I am requesting a variety of different arts and crafts supplies since those materials are always in low supply, to include a couple of organizer caddies to help organize the arts and crafts supplies.
This project means a great deal to me because I have witnessed how bullying can take a devastating toll on a child.
I am a parent of a special needs student, and special needs students are easy targets for bullies. Bullying doesn't just affect the person who is the target of the bully, it affects the entire family. Bullying in Schools, along with the other books will inspire my students to read more. The various arts and crafts supplies will be used for a number of different projects throughout the school year.
