Help me give my students hands-on experiences and project based learning (STEM) with a LEGO Kit, four Klutz LEGO Chain Reaction Kits, four Klutz LEGO Gadgets and four LEGO Building Mats.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My 2nd and 3rd grade students enjoyed learning about Chain Reactions last year and the next logical project would be the Mouse Trap STEM Project because it includes the Science of Chain Reaction, but extends to Simple Machines. My students are excited to learn by building background with research, solving problems, and using professional methodology.
Most of my students are Gifted and Talented, which are high academic performer compared to their peers.
In addition, the other students have the potential of performing at high levels. The school is has an excellent learning culture which is reflected in our classes. This is my second year working with my students and I find them very eager to learn new things. They are excited about critical thinking and hands-on projects. I love them because they are lifelong learners.
We are requesting the Klutz LEGO Chain Reaction Kits, Klutz LEGO Gadgets and LEGO Bricks kit which will help my students build an understanding of STEM Projects, foster lessons with hands-on and inquiry based project "The Mouse Trap".
Students will use the Chain Reaction kits and Klutz LEGO Gadget kits to create a mouse trap that has chain reactions, simple or complex machines and learn how they are used in the real world.
My students will gain an understanding of the principles that make simple and complex machines work in their mouse trap design. There are 11 different machines: claw, catapult, spin-o-vision, Ghost Gazzer and etc... It will promote STEM and encourage creativity with open ended prompts.
