The Mosaic of Our World

Help me give my students a better understanding of the world by reading about California history, parks and costal area. After that they can use atlases to understand how they are part of the world at large.

My Project

Atlases are like secret guidebooks that help us unlock the mysteries of the planet, igniting an exciting sense of adventure! For my fourth graders, flipping through the maps in the atlases is an invitation to explore where they are from and then begin to investigate more distant lands.

But first my students can learn about California, our state—discovering the history, parks, costal areas and marine mammals that makes our home special.

The goal with this study is to help develop a sense of place in the world, how and why that is important. From there, using the atlases and activities from Teachers Pay Teachers, my students will begin to broaden they understanding and see that we are all global neighbors in a world that is worth exploring.
