Help me give my students a library of books with science and social studies themes that I can use to introduce cross-curricular lessons to multi age groups!

My Project
I teach in a very unique model that allows me to work with children from pre-k up to seniors in high school- occasionally at the same time! Another amazing part of my job is that I get whole families on my roster and loop with them year after year. I also get to work with these friends in a variety of environments - sometimes I'm in a classroom-ish setting, sometimes I'm in their home, sometimes we are meeting virtually!
Regardless of how or where I'm with my students it never fails that when I am reading a picture book to one of my littles that the bigs start to drift over and listen in!
So I've decided to use that to my advantage and create lessons that are rooted in the themes of engaging picture books that can be tailored to fit any age learner!
For instance, I can read Jack Kent's The Caterpillar and the Polliwog to a rapt audience, then use a directed draw to to create their own life cycle of a butterfly, and, finally, they can write about it. My pre-k friends can label initial sounds, my lower elementary kids can write simple sentences explaining the life cycle, and my big kids can write narratives from the point of view of the caterpillar!
I'd list all of the standards I can cover with one activity but I'd run out of characters too fast!
I like getting to mesh science and social studies themes with our ELA standards, but I LOVE seeing the big kids engage in the wonder of childhood and the littles' sense of pride from doing the same work as big brother or sister!
