My Students
My students are young adventurers and explorers. They are creative, hardworking, and beautiful young people. We are a Title 1 school with 100% free lunch. Our students are naturally curious and have great potential. They are interested in robotics, math, and all things STEAM, and I would love to help nurture that natural curiosity. Our students could be the next great inventors, engineers, medical doctors, etc. We just need the supplies and the means. When our students are given more opportunity to work with STEM, it can open up the world beyond St. Louis. In addition to STEAM, our students are finding a new love for reading and writing and have become authors through weekly "book" writing.
My Project
My students have become completed wrapped up in learning to read. They are excited any time new books enter our classroom and they are devouring our books (in the best way possible). As they have grown more and more infatuated by reading, it has become impossible to keep up with their desire to read more independently. These book sets will give our students more material to read independently by giving them a leveled library in the classroom so they are learning to choose books which are appropriate for their reading levels.
In our classroom, books as the ones we are hoping to receive are exactly what we need to open up a new world for our students.
As they grow more independent in their reading, I want to be sure that our classroom library has plenty of material for our students to be able to get comfy in the classroom and curl up with a book they know they can read and understand. This donation is one which can help our students gain more than just a reading education - it can help grant them the confidence they need to continue growing.
