This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a Librarian/Media Specialist in a low-income area I am always looking for ways to get my students interested in reading. Many of my students are second language learners and struggle reading regular novels. Because of this struggle I was thrilled to find out that they love to read graphic novels.

The pictures in graphic novels bring the stories to life and support understanding of the text.

This helps students who struggle with reading to comprehend the text through pictures while working on reading the text. Their eyes light up with understanding and they love each new book that comes in!
