I am a Special Education Teacher at a Title 1 Elementary school in Hilo, Hawaii. I teach 4th grade in an inclusion setting with a co-teacher. In our grade level, our students rotate for math, ELA, and sciences, therefore we will see each and every 4th grade student in our school (nearly 175 students!)
It is important to us that each and every student comes to school excited to learn every day.
As an inclusive classroom, we understand that the world can be a challenging place. We want our classroom to feel like a safe place where students can learn and explore together.
My Project
Our classroom has began a STEM transformation! We have recently included opportunities for students to use engineering kits. Now we would like to update our classroom library to reflect a STEM mind. We need books that students WANT to read. The batman engineering books will get students thinking about the engineering behind their favorite super heros. The coding and computer books will allow students to explore the technology we use daily in class.
Reading is Important because, if you can read, you can learn anything about everything and everything about anything -Tomi De Paola
Our daily homework includes silent reading. Please help us give our students the opportunity to check out and read books that they can learn and start to explore the wonders of engineering!
