Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Despite many of my students' low income/high poverty backgrounds, they love to read, write, and put their imaginations on display through a variety of activities and projects. They come to school eager to learn. This year, our class adopted Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland & Through The Looking Glass" as our classroom theme.
My students eagerly enter "Wonderland" each morning with renewed enthusiasm to see what new adventure in learning is awaiting them.
They love sitting in alternative seating. Currently, though, we only have 3 options for seating that is different from the rest of student chairs.
My Project
Flexible, comfortable seating is a necessity for my students. It makes a difference in their motivation and their ability to focus and learn. Many of my students come from 5th grade classrooms where a variety of flexible seating options was the norm.
To say that my students miss the seating options they enjoyed last year is an understatement!
Our classroom is colorful, fun, and inviting, but currently, we only have three flexible seating choices. This project would accommodate 3 more students - two in the Children's Double Comfort Seat Chair, and one in the 100% Organic Cotton Yoga Bolster. These would provide daily opportunities for additional students to enjoy new and different options.
These seating options will allow my students to work independently and in pairs comfortably. My students love earning the privilege of sitting in one of our existing executive chairs for part of the day. With the seating options included in this project, more students may utilize more options each day. This creates excitement, fun, and opportunities for learning.
