My Students

Do you remember classrooms that used just books to learn facts? My students learn best by doing hands-on projects. It is difficult to get excited about data that is just on paper, but to imitate real scientists with technology truly engages them. They can't wait to come to class and explore.

I hope to instill in my students a drive to find their own answers as well as embrace a MAKER attitude.

My 6th-grade science classes are part of a public school in a growing suburban town in NH.Middle school students learn more by doing than reading.Science class is the perfect place to make discoveries.

As the new national science standards are implemented, the focus is to develop STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) lessons. They love to make connections to real world problems. Instead of hearing "Why do we need to learn this?", I get students who can't wait to do things like forensics or other explorations.

My Project

We are requesting an iPad mini with a case. Imagine a classroom where students pickup an iPad mini to complete a lesson. They might research a topic or make comments on another student's work, or maybe they will make there own journal entry in Google docs.

iPad minis are the pathway to going paperless, it truly brings our classroom into the 21st century learning style.

My sixth grade science students are full of curiosity. They have great questions about how our world works and I hope to guide them to some answers.

Students will find learning more meaningful if they make the discoveries themselves rather than just get notes from a teacher. The iPad Mini allows them to show understanding by making an animation about a science concept. They also have many concerns about actions that mankind does that impacts nature. Going paperless is not easy in a middle school, but the iPad mini will eliminate a lot of paper worksheets. My student's will be proud of their contribution to improving our world.

Your generous donation will inspire my students. They will excitedly look forward to each time they can use the iPad mini. You will help them develop an environmental conscience as we continue our education without using paper and destroying trees.

They will become global citizens as they mature and know they can make a difference to save our planet. They will thankfully know that your generosity sparked their discoveries.
