My Students

Many of my students are on free and reduced lunch and come from low-income households where educational resources are very limited. The love that they have towards school and learning at such a young age, amazes me. Such love gives me the drive I need to be the best teacher for them and provide them with whatever they need to succeed.

My students walk into the classroom every day full of life, excited to learn and eager to see what is in store for them each day.

However, despite the challenges they face at home they always enter school with smiling faces and ready minds.

My Project

During the preschool years, young children are developing a sense of initiative and creativity. They are innately curious about the world around and about learning. Even at an early age they have started exploring and communicating with various forms of media. Many of my students have had previous experiences using some form of technology, however I want my students to learn how to use technology effectively to enhance their learning.

Digital technologies provide young learners with one more outlet for them to demonstrate their creativity and learning.

My students need iPads in order to freely explore touch screens loaded with a wide variety of developmentally appropriate interactive media experiences that enhance the feeling of success. In my classroom my young learners are taught to take charge of their learning. Students will showcase their work by creating digital portfolios using the iPads. The iPads minis are perfect for little hands to maneuver and manipulate.

As leaders of their own learning, students will learn how to take photos of work they are proud of and upload it to a digital platform that is made accessible to their loved ones. As students learn to write, they will use the iPads to narrate what they have written or drawn, becoming their own storyteller. The addition of iPads to our classroom will open the door for students to express themselves creatively through a digital platform. My goal is to create digital learners, one iPad at a time!
