This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school is a technical high school for the 21st Century. The mission of our school is to develop academically successful and socially responsible citizens who are fully prepared to take on challenges of college and careers. We have the highest graduation rate of all the high schools in our district.

Our school offers Career and Technical programs in addition to their regular courses.

Our students are bright, energetic, and very creative individuals. They excel at working hands on and our teachers are focused on personalized learning to reach all students and find out how they learn best!

My Project

Students need an opportunity to build on skills they learn throughout the artistic process. The sketchbooks and drawing materials will provide my students a creative space to practice and reflect on the skills they learned in class. The students will put themselves in a working artists shoes and show what it is like from the beginning to the end of a project, including the planning stages, which will improve the quality of the project. Students will not only use the sketchbooks for the planning, but it will allow my students opportunities to practice for homework assignments or just if they feel an urge to be creative at any moment throughout the day. The student's technical skills will begin to improve through consistent practice, inside and outside of school.
