Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach a very diverse group of Pre-K students. Pre-K is usually a students first experience in school and I plan to make their year the best experience. My students come to Pre-K ready to learn both academically and socially.

My Project

PreK students are learning so much every day. We do not sit in desks or at tables like other grades. We do most of our learning by sitting on a rug together. With this rug, this will give kids a visual of their personal space to learn safely. The squares on the rug let students know what space is for them in order to keep everyone happy and healthy. I love to incorporate singing and dancing during lessons because some students learn kinesthetically. With this rug, we can continue to dance during learning in a safe way because the rug will let students move around in their own square safely.
