it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are special because they blossom with imagination. I work in an inner city school system with students whose eyes light up when they are learning.
Do you remember when you were younger and you would just be creative?
You may have built something in your basement or taken apart something because you were curious what it did. I want to give that opportunity to my students. All students should have the opportunity to be the next innovator. You never know who is going to create the next new piece of technology. It could be a 10 year old kid.
My Project
Our school really needs a label maker to help keep track of all the wonderful devices that were purchased for our school. We hope to use the label maker to add each child's name to their device. We were using a pen, but it was just coming off. This will help the students know which device belongs to them and it will give them ownership to take care of it. I know we will not just use it for the devices, but to also label things that will help all of our different learners become readers.
Labeling will help all readers to become stronger.
Recently we have had some new students who do not speak English arriving at our school. Our hope is that we will be able to label certain things around the classroom and throughout the school to help them build vocabulary.
