The Magic of Math!

Help me give my students the Magic of Math Year Long Bundle, songs to teach math, and Plugo Count to help my first graders improve their math skills.

My Students

My students are dreamers, problem solvers, and likely the most creative little people you will ever meet.

They are a happy group of first graders who love school and love to learn.

My students' economic situations are just as varied as are their family dynamics. We have military families with a local National Guard unit in our area and an Air Force base close by. We aim to take good care of our military families. Our district includes an Indian Reservation and we have a high population of Hispanic students, many of whom have family members who work in the agricultural industry. It is so rewarding to teach, whether I am helping a gifted student learn, one coping with ADHD learn, or anything in between. I feel like I have the best job ever!

My Project

It is wonderful to connect with other teachers around the country and learn and share with each other. This Magic of Math bundle follows the math standards I teach in first grade and offers games and activities to go with each standard including time, money, addition, place value, Financial Literacy, and more. Amy Lemons is the teacher-author of this pack and I was able to take classes from her last summer at a conference.

The activities in the eleven units that are in this bundle will help me spruce up my math block.

I have seen Hap Palmer and Jack Hartmann perform their songs, and I would like to use their math songs with my first graders. Using songs to reinforce math skills help young children remember the concepts better. The Plugo Count math game will be available during math stations and for quick finishers.

The math materials in this project will help my students, and I know they will enjoy the games and activities included for each math unit.
