This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hi there! My students love to learn Math and Literacy skills in Spanish. I teach 2 classes in the Dual Language Immersion program in Spanish to 3rd graders. This year I have 54 students. Most of them can only speak Spanish while they are in class due to the small Hispanic population where they live; however, they love to practice their Spanish every moment they can. They come in very excited eager to learn and are very proud of learning math, language skills and science in a different language. 3rd grade is such an essential grade where students learn so many different new things. It is important for me to provide them with hands-on experiences so they can learn better and understand in a more concrete way how the world around them works.

My Project

I currently have two yoga balls in my classroom. My students in both classes ask me every day who gets to use the ball. Unfortunately, only 2 students per class get them every day. They get so sad when they are not the ones chosen to use the yoga balls. In this project, I have asked for 4 more yoga balls and 3 wobbling stools, so that more students get the opportunity to sit in something diffferent ffrom a chair that lets them release some energy. I have also found out that those students who sit on the yoga ball pay more attention and are more focused in class because they are releasing the energy they have in a non-disruptive way as well as some of the anxiety they may have. I'd really appreciate your donation, so that more students can have other options to sit on while they are in class!
