This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

By having an iPad and an Apple pencil, along with using the draw function, I can project my slides and walk around the room, annotating, having students draw on the slides, and moving back and forth between slides without being tethered to my computer at the desk. I can use proximity to keep active students a little more engaged, and I can create anchor charts/vocabulary lists as I'm teaching to print out later.

By having a roaming teacher who can work with students one-on-one, students will have better success.

This system will let me check in more often and catch off-task students, correct misunderstandings quicker, and have students draw directly onto the presentation with their answers. I want to be more available during the lecture part of class and less stuck at the front. I also plan on using the software to record daily "need-to-know" tutorial videos for students who are absent and ask, "What did I miss?".

My high school science students are finally coming out of the COVID-learned behaviors of low engagement, low attendance, and thinking that being in class isn't necessary for a good understanding of the material. When they know their teacher sees them and can help them solve problems before they become problems, they have a better connection to the school and will work harder for teachers who care. Help me show them that I care about them enough for an old lady to learn new tricks and that I want this to be the most engaging class of their day.
