The purpose of this project is to enhance technology in my classroom. This document camera will give students the opportunity to increase their levels in Math, comprehension, and problem solving. The ELMO will allow math lessons to be presented in a way that will gain students??? attention to achieve positive results. The ELMO captures and displays moving objects in real-time, making hands-on lessons even easier to understand. It allows students to illustrate, share notes, and work Math problems all under the camera. The ELMO will save valuable teaching time because this device clearly displays any item on any type of paper; no more wasted time for students to put their problems on the board. All the students need to do is put their notebook, paper, or workbook right under the camera for everyone to see. The ELMO will capture attention, increase retention, spark imagination, make learning interesting, inspiring and most of all FUN!! I have a mini-lab set up in my classroom, and the ELMO would put the finishing touch on my class. My school is a rural PreK - 6 with 500 students with no rooms available to create a computer lab; therefore, each teacher has to set up computers in their room to represent a lab setting. Thanks to several grants, I now have seven computers, a projector and handhelds. I really would like to have an ELMO to complete my lab. I use technology every day in my Math class because I am a firm believer that students today need to be exposed to the various types of technology to be successful in the future. Research has proven that students learn in different ways, and the more students are exposed to the more information they will learn and retain. I would really appreciate it if you would really consider funding my project to make ???My Magic Lantern??? come to life in my classroom.
