Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a diverse group of third grade students from a small farming community in northern California. We do not allow our financial backgrounds or differences to hold us back from achieving our goals.

Our public school has a large number of free or reduced-price lunches for students.

Many students are not able to bring much-needed supplies from home in order to be successful in school. We enjoy reading, writing, doing math, as well as learning about science, history, and technology.

My Project

My students need books to replace the worn books in our classroom library.

In our classroom library, many of the books have been there for at least 8 years.

We have repaired many of the books, with tape, tape, and more tape. Students are allowed to take books home to read too. In some cases, the books do not get returned or are ruined. By getting another set of books for the classroom, we can have full sets again. These books will help encourage reading for enjoyment. In turn, this will help with fluency scores, reading comprehension, and word knowledge.

Many of you have your favorite book that you read while you were growing up.

I'd like to allow my students the opportunity to find that "favorite book" while in my class. Your donation to this project will allow more books to be part of our classroom library.
