Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are inquisitive, enthusiastic and motivated about learning. They are hard workers, responsible, and many of them are self-motivated. They come from poverty-stricken homes, and our school is under the highest in poverty and more than 90% receive free or reduced-price meals. They have the support of their parents who are trying their best to provide them with their most basic needs. They are in need of resources to improve their educational opportunities and experiences to enhance their education.
My Project
I have been working on creating a culture of readers in my class this year. Many of my students are about to complete our 40 book challenge. To help them stay active with reading, I have worked on having different options in our classroom library.
The different books will allow students to have choices on what they would like to read depending on their interests.
Many students are into graphic novels, historical fiction, realistic fiction texts and your support will allow them to have a variety of text to choose from. Many of the books also connect to real life skills that I teach in the classroom. These books are great to teach life skills and make connections. Thank you for your support.
