My Project
The Local Beat: Investigating Our Community is an interdisciplinary project that empowers 3rd grade students to become investigative reporters, uncovering stories from their own communities. Students will work in partners to take pictures from the neighborhood to tell a story. For this project, students will combine art, ELA, and math as they develop journalistic skills such as research, team work, photography, and data collection.
Students will be expected to collect and analyze data through photography; telling a story about their neighborhood to better understand it.
Students are going to use their artistic skills learned in art class to enhance their knowledge about their neighborhood that they learned in ELA and math class.
